Description
nPower Teachers is a STEM teacher externship that partners with regional businesses to learn from professionals about the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their industry. In April we will visit Shin-Etsu (SEH) America, a world leader in the manufacturing of silicon wafers and a top employer in Clark County. SEH has developed a series of processes aimed at reducing their impact on the environment, and also has partnered with the Southwest Washington STEM Network to develop a highly-regarding high school internship program. Teachers will tour the exterior grounds and learn about recycling and water quality monitoring in the morning and spend the afternoon developing career-connected classroom activities to engage their students in STEM and career awareness. Protocols for the development of career-connected learning tasks will be shared.
- Substitute costs to the first 25 teachers registered will be reimbursed through the OSPI ClimeTime grant.
- Please note the location of this workshop is at the SEH America main gate.
- Exact location, parking instruction and other logistics will be a sent Tuesday prior to the visit.
- Participants will do a considerable amount of walking (indoors and outdoors) on this visit.
