Description

Wondering why teachers in your building want to attend computer science trainings? It isn’t just for high school anymore. What are computer science (CS)  and computational thinking (CT), and why should you care about implementing them in your building? This quick overview will give you the basics of CS and CT vocabulary and Washington state CS standards, introduce the academic and social benefits for elementary and middle school students, and illustrate CT connections to other standards areas. We’ll get some hands-on time with coding so you can get an idea of how CT and CS could look in your school, and we’ll discuss free and moderate-cost options for implementing a CS pathway.
