Description
If you're a middle or high school teacher who wants your students to better understand patterns and functions but you don’t know how to facilitate them, then this is the mini workshop for you. You'll learn how to use visual patterns to help your students describe functions using numbers, pictures, symbols, and words.
We'll begin by talking about why we need visual patterns. Then we'll explore both linear and quadratic patterns so you can see how students will experience them and how we facilitate them. We'll also talk about what happens when kids get stuck and how to use visual patterns when teaching online. Finally we'll wrap it up with how to merge this with what you're already doing.
