Description

Book Study, Rebound, A Playbook For Rebuilding Agency, Accelerating Learning Recovery, and Rethinking Schools

Rebound is a gift to educators. The book is an amazing resource for all of us to rethink our classrooms and schools as we work to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. We have had many struggles in education during this pandemic; however, we have also learned new strategies that we need to capture and continue to implement as we move out of the pandemic. This book will help you do that!

This course is ongoing and renews annually.

Event Notes

Registration and payment for this course must be made through the Teacher Study website with the registration link provided.  The course fee is $175.  Clock hours are sponsored by ESD 112 and the clock hour fee is $90.

Agenda

  1. Purchase and read Rebound, A Playbook For Rebuilding Agency, Accelerating Learning Recovery, and Rethinking Schools, by Douglas Fisher, Nancy Frey, Dominique Smith and John Hattie.

You can find this book at amazon.com or your favorite bookstore.

2.  Write complete answers to all of the questions on the Book Study Handout. The handout is provided to you after registration is completed.

3. Create a chart like the one found on page 57 of the text, including at least 4 instructional strategies from the Menu of Teacher Practices (pages 48-49) for each of the 3 areas (Student Opportunities, Student-Teacher Collaboration and Teacher-Led Approaches).

4. Write a 2-3 page paper detailing tangible actions you will take in your educational setting to build a student agency initiative. Describe in detail how these actions will support an increase in student achievement and discuss which skill(s) will be the easiest to address, which skill(s) will be the hardest to address, and why.

Turn in the chart and the 2-3 page paper.
