Book Study: Courageous Leadership in Early Childhood Education
Book Study: Courageous Leadership in Early Childhood Education
Session 5
Presenters
- Tracy Collins
Description
This training will focus on the book Courageous Leadership in Early Childhood Education: Taking a Stand for Social Justice, by Long, Souto-Manning, & Vasquez, editors. This training is mainly discussion based, with learners focusing on 2 chapters per session (to be determined by the group prior to each session). Participants are asked to reflect on 4 questions during the 1st session to help me assess their comfort/knowledge/experience level in talking about social justice/equity issues; These questions are:
• What are you looking for in this training series?
• How can I help make this series meaningful for you?
• Have you done any work on equity or social justice before now?
• What is your comfort level about discussing topics of race, bias, and inequities?
My hope is that the group develops into a safe space to discuss issues of social justice for participants own personal development/growth, as well as in their professional roles in early learning environments.
