Youth Mental Health First Aid - August 11, 2023

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) provides skill to caring adults who may interact with youth experiencing a mental health crisis. The program is based on the principle that early intervention prevents mental health concerns from becoming more severe by encouraging people to seek help early. This training is open to all educators (teachers, counselors, social workers, nurses, instructional assistants, administrators), parents/caregiver, coaches, volunteers working with youth…any caring adult.

The program is based on the principle that early intervention prevents mental illness from becoming more severe by encouraging people to seek help early. Participants learn a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources, and knowledge to help connect an individual in crisis with appropriate professional, peer, social, and self-help care. Mental Health First Aid is proven to improve mental health literacy and reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness.
