Description

We are pleased to offer days one through four of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) with Dr. Flint Simonsen. The main ideas that define school-wide PBIS include:

  • whole school approach to behavior;
  • investment in preventing problem behavior;
  • actively teaching and rewarding expected behaviors;
  • consistent consequences for challenging behaviors;
  • establish environments that are predictable;
  • use different practices for different levels (primary, secondary, tertiary) of behavior support;
  • implementation of the systems needed to support evidence-based practices
  • commitment to ongoing self-evaluation and planning for implementation; and
  • collection and use of data for decision-making.

NWESD is offering Team Registration for this event consisting of teams of 4-5 members. Teams should include an administrator (required), teachers (general and special education), counselors, paraeducators, bus drivers, coaches, building support, and related services staff.
