This is a great book for current leaders, or those who might aspire to be leaders someday, in grades K-12 and beyond. The authors, Anthony Muhammad and Luis F. Cruz, are both renowned educators and presenters who worked closely with Richard and Rebecca DuFour and their company, Solution Tree. They explain the 4 skills that are requisite for leaders who want to transform their schools or districts into successful organizations where staff members trust the leadership and are willing to make important investments that will ultimately lead to improved student outcomes.

You will need to register for this course through Teacher Study via the external link provided.   You will pay the course registration fee to them.  The clock hours for this event are sponsored by ESD 112.  When you complete the course, you will receive instructions for claiming your clock hours in pdEnroller.  You will need to upload your certificate of completion when you claim the clock hours.  The fee for this course is $175.  The clock hour fee is a $90 additional fee.  

Agenda

1) Purchase and read Time for Change - 4 Essential Skills for Transformational School and District Leaders, By Anthony Muhammad and Luis F. Cruz

           You can find this book at amazon.com or your favorite bookstore.

2) Write complete answers to all of the questions on the Book Study Handout. Type answers directly into the document. The handout is provided to you after registration is completed.

3) Write and turn in a 3-4 page paper with the following directions:

  • Elementary school administrators choose 1 scenario from the following pages from the text: 28, 48, 55, 91 or 101.
  • Middle school administrators choose 1 scenario from the following pages from the text: 29, 37, 72 or 103.
  • High School administrators choose the scenario on page 52 of the text.
  • Superintendents choose 1 scenario from the following pages from the text: 31, 50, 69 or 76.
  • All others, simply choose 1 scenario from any of the pages listed above.

Step 1: Indicate which scenario on which page of the text you chose.

Step 2: Answer in detail the four questions on the left side of the chart. Be sure to consider the bullet points (arrows) when reflecting on the scenario.

Step 3: Turn in the 3-4 page paper.

It should be 10-12 pt font double-spaced.

All 3 assignments must be completed within 1 year. Upload completed handout and paper to your Dashboard on the website or email all completed assignments and paperwork to lorie@teacherstudy.org.
