Description

Washington state has computer science standards for students in all grades K-12, but many elementary and middle school teachers aren't aware of the standards for their grade level - and many more don't have any idea where to start with integrating computer science into their curricula. Fortunately, it's easy to get started if you have the right information! You don't have to be a computer programmer, a CS teacher, or even a tech aficionado.

This course will give educators the basics of computer science concepts, practices, and standards, help them to recognize integration points to easily include CS in their mathematics activities, and guide them through creating their first integrated lesson activity or unit. No prior computer science or programming experience is necessary - absolute beginners can take this course, but those who have tried computer science activities like one-off robotics projects or Hour of Code are welcome as well.

This course is aimed primarily at educators teaching K-8, though activities and resources in the course should be applicable to high school computer science integration as well.
