Description

Come learn with Washington Green Schools in this virtual professional development opportunity designed exclusively for K-12 teachers in ESD 112. Participants will have a chance to authentically engage with activities and experts as they grow their understanding of the local impacts of the changing climate and agriculture. Analyze and interpret recent climate science data with Dr. Kat Huybers, a climate scientist and lecturer from the University of Washington. Model the relationship between global climate change and local environmental and social impacts and explore possible solutions to environmental challenges that you and your students can partake in at home and at school. Teachers are encouraged to invite a colleague to this training.

Event Notes

This workshop will include two 2-hour Zoom sessions and some asynchronous work to be done before each Zoom session. The Zoom links will be emailed to participants the Friday before the first session.

Teachers will receive a $150 participation stipend upon completion of the entire 6 hour STEM Seminar experience.

Teachers can also earn an additional $100 stipend by implementing an activity or skill learned from the STEM Seminar, uploading an artifact to an online form, and participating in a one-hour follow-up organized by Washington Green Schools on Wednesday, December 2nd, 4-5 pm.
