Let’s talk about PDFs—they’re everywhere in schools, but they’re not always accessible to everyone. In this hands-on session, we’ll break down how to create PDF documents that meet federal accessibility standards and actually work for all users (not just those using the latest tech or reading on a desktop).

Whether you’re sending out calendars, flyers, handbooks, or board minutes, this course will show you how to optimize your original files, check for accessibility issues, and use tools like Adobe Pro and Grackle to make sure your content is screen reader-friendly and keyboard-navigable. We’ll cover tagging, reading order, color contrast, and how to avoid common document pitfalls.

By the end, you’ll walk away with the confidence—and the checklist—you need to make your digital communications more inclusive, one PDF at a time.

This course can be taken as part of the 70 clock hours required for the General Paraeducator Certificate. It also meets the Advanced Paraeducator Certificate requirements. For more information please refer to the PESB Website.
