Description
This class is for the educator who is working with children with sensory issues. It is not meant to replace the services provided by occupational therapists or physical therapists who work in the districts. My intention is to educate teachers so they can be sensitive and aware of the needs of children. Upon completion of this class, you should understand sensory challenges and patterns so that you will have more effective strategies to use in the classroom. To provide optimum services to children, team members need to collaborate and work together. This is especially true for children with sensory differences.
This session will build upon the case study material provided by each participant. We will work in dyads to brainstorm possible strategies. Whole class will engage in sharing their process and ideas. There will be a hands-on experience of a variety of sensory tools. We will discuss the pros and cons of sensory tools/ideas and ways to use them productively and effectively.
