An exciting training and reflective practice experience designed to facilitate Infant and Early Childhood Development (IECD) learning, foster relationships and increase effective outcomes.
Dr. JoAnne Solchany and Dr. Gina Veloni will be providing foundational core trainings and reflection practice (RP) time for staff working in home visiting (HV) programs. A training series has been developed to support home visitors in facilitating the understanding and applications of how parental functioning, relationships between providers, parents and children, and childhood development through a relationship and RP framework to support the developmental journey for home visitors working in the IECD field.
Training one: Perinatal Mental Health & Impact on baby
Training Program Goals:
1. Understanding of the roles of parental functioning, relationship dynamics and child development within a relationship and RP framework.
2. Cultivating empathy and reflection in early childhood systems and programs.
3. Introduction of a foundational parent child health framework training to support home visitors in their work with parents and children.
4. Prepare home visitors to be more prepared and confident in their everyday interactions with parents and children in their home visiting programs.
Training methods: didactic, story sharing, videos, practice opportunities, interactive activities, reflections, and post-training reflective practice groups. Theoretical foundations and underpinnings reflect several critical perinatal, infant and toddler developmental, attachment, and IMH tenants, which will be introduced with a trauma informed lens.
RP groups will be introduced, post training, to facilitate a community of practice built around lessons learned and home visitor experiences and cases. These RP groups will be facilitated with the infant mental health principles, mindfulness and RP tools to support the interactive case discussions.
Endorsement of Infant Mental Health (IMH) Competencies will be introduced during the training which includes:

In order to receive clock hours:
- Participants must sign the attendance sign-in sheet EACH assigned day of the session. The attendee must sign in to receive credit for attending the session. Capital Region ESD 113 will not accept verbal or written documentation (other than official sign-in sheets) from the instructor, school district or other entity stating the attendee was present after the session has taken place.
- Participants must be in actual (physical) attendance at the session location at the assigned time and for the duration of the class.
