Description

In the past few decades, neuroscientists have made amazing discoveries about the neural substrates governing the human brain and in a post-COVID world, the research is making it clear that students’ brains are continuing to rewire.

In this 3-day course, educators and district teams will dive deep into the relationship between behavior and learning through the lens of cognitive neuroscience. Led by Dr. Missy Widmann and the Neural Education team, educators and district teams will access emerging research, equipping educators with neural informed practices that can have an immediate impact on student learning and behavior.

During this deep dive, administrators and educators will explore:

  • Integrating research-based brain science into teaching, such as the use of metacognition, working memory, and self-regulated learning strategies
  • A brain-informed pedagogical model that is central to critical understanding of areas of attention, comprehension, mindset, and engagement
  • Educators will understand their own behavior in relation to the behavior of students, effectively changing their beliefs about why students engage in the communicative behavior they choose
  • Impact of social pain (caused by interpersonal interactions) and research that shows the impact not only in behavioral performance, but also in the structure of the brain
  • How to build structure before function in their educational settings
  • Building more positive, restorative classroom communities through the Social Discipline Window
  • Use inclusive teaching practices

We highly recommend that teams attend the training when possible. We anticipate seats filling quickly.

Past participants have shared:

         ●  I learned many significant ideas from this program including how the brain is wired and its relationship to learning.

  •  ●  I learned so much at this training and it sparked new ideas that I need to incorporate into my classroom. The leader of this training was very wise and informed.
     ●  Teaching with the Brain in mind. I learned a lot about the brain and about anxiety. It was fascinating.

  •  ●  Amazing hands on real life classroom tested tools to apply right away.

  •  ●  Everyone should take this course!

  •  ●  Great Class!!!!! Loved every minute of it!!!!!!

        ●  Loved this!
