Description

More than ever, educators and those who work in education are called to be productive contributors to discussions about race and equity. Whether you are a certificated classroom teacher, paraeducator, school office manager, assistant principal, director, or superintendent, this course will stretch you.

The online modules provide foundational understanding in the areas of racial literacy, cultural responsiveness, and stereotype threat. The course begins with an exploration of how identity is created in the individual, and ends with concrete strategies and tools to move bravely into conversations about equity, race, and racism.

While the course covers topics required for staff training by Engrossed State Senate Bill (ESSB) 6168, the course is not about compliance. This experience is offered because race and racism are and have been present, persistent, and pervasive in the United States and the U.S. educational system. Systemic racism and discrete acts of prejudice continue to impede the success of students across this great state and nation.

IMPORTANT: The course is a fully remote, online, go-at-your-own-pace experience hosted on Canvas by ESD 113. Registration in pdEnroller begins your experience, and a separate registration will be required in Canvas to access the course materials.

Presented by Capital Region ESD 113 in partnership with Potential Unleashed Consulting.
