New Content!
As part of the skills check you can participate in Stop the Bleed and Naloxone trainings.
Stop the Bleed:
What you will learn: What stops bleeding? In a STOP THE BLEED® course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life.
Naloxone:
Naloxone saves lives because it can quickly restore normal breathing to a person whose breathing has slowed or stopped because of overdosing on prescription opioid medications, heroin, or drugs that are adulterated and contaminated with an opioid like fentanyl.
What you will learn: The signs of an opioid overdose and how to administer naloxone nasal spray. During an overdose, a person’s breathing can be dangerously slowed or stopped, causing brain damage or death. It’s important to recognize the signs and act fast, even before emergency workers arrive.
Clock Hours
After completing part 1 and 2, participants will be eligible to purchase 4.5 clock hours through the "Heartsaver First Aid/CPR-AED Skills Checks" event.
