Description
Thank you for registering for the ESD 113 Heartsaver First Aid/CPR-AED Training. There are TWO parts and several steps to completing this training, which is outlined below. Content includes general first aid principles, medical emergencies, injury Emergencies, CPR for adults/children/infants, and the proper use of AEDs. Once this process is completed you will be issued an active First Aid/CPR-AED card.
Part 1- America Heart Association On-line Curriculum
After registering on pdEnroller, you will receive an email with a unique link assigned to you along with instructions for accessing the on-line curriculum. After you have completed all the modules, email the completion certificate to firstaidcpr@esd113.org.
Part 2- Skills Check at ESD 113
After submitting the online certificate, participants will receive another email with instructions to register for the Skills Check. In the email, you will see a list of dates/times with corresponding pdEnroller links. Select a date/time and register for the Skills check by using the associated pdEnroller link. Next the participant will attend the Skills Check at the ESD on the selected day/time. At the Skills Check, participants will review and practice what they learned in the online training. Participants will demonstrate competency in basic first aid, epi pen administration, adult/child/infant CPR and AED use. Certified instructors will provide coaching and support to participants ensuring they successfully complete the skills check and receive their first aid/CPR card via email.
As part of the skills check you will also participate in a Stop the Bleed Training.
Stop the Bleed:
What you will learn: What stops bleeding? In a STOP THE BLEED® course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life.
Clock Hours
After completing part 1 and 2, participants will be eligible to purchase 4.5 clock hours through the "Heartsaver First Aid/CPR-AED Skills Checks" event.
