Description

Overview:

This course satisfies the requirements for  FCS07 Behavior Management Strategies. For convenience, the course is delivered online and follows a self-guided, go-at-your-own-pace style. Upon registration in pdEnroller, participants are given instructions to access content on Canvas, the online learning platform.

For paraeducators:

Contact your paraeducator supervisor or human resources department before paying any fee for registration. Many districts purchase access to the course for employees, and your district may have a coupon or promo code.

Tracking your training progress: The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Certification Office (OSPI) has adapted “e-cert”, an online tool to track the completion of clock hours, to include paraeducators. It is the responsibility of the paraeducator, with the assistance of the school district, to file completion of the Fundamental Course of Study and training to meet the certificates through e-cert. Inquire of your supervisor or district human resources department for tracking tools.

Unsure if you should take this course? Ask your supervisor, district human resources department, or contact an ESD representative: Lynne Forbush lforbush@esd113.org or Russell Rice rrice@esd113.org

For district decision-makers:

Capital Region ESD 113 is pleased to be part of your training plans via this online course. We offer in-person training services in addition to twelve online FCS courses. Contact Russell Rice, Director of Teaching & Learning, for more information on services and pricing: rrice@esd113.org

The paraeducator certificate program offers standards-based training for all instructional paraeducators in Washington State. PESB directs that school districts are responsible for providing the Fundamental Course of Study: 28 hours of training that covers the paraeducator standards of practice. In 2025-26, 14 hours of FCS training must be provided in-person.
