Description

Safety-Care is a training program for staff working with children, adolescents, or adults who may exhibit challenging or dangerous behavior. The focus in Safety-Care is on prevention, safety, and humane, supportive, evidence based interventions. The focus of Safety-Care is to create a positive learning environment, focusing on the prevention of challenging behaviors through proactive strategies and environmental supports. 


This Session will cover the following sections of the Safety-Care curriculum:

  • Section 2 - Incident Prevention

    • Review Questions for Chapter 2
  • Section 3 - Incident Minimization
    • Antecedents to Dangerous Behavior
    • Safety Stance
    • Calling for Assistance
    • Leadership and Teamwork
    • Supportive Guide
    • De-Escalation
    • Management of Dangerous Objects
    • Review Questions for Chapter 3

This training will also cover the foundations of debriefing following an escalation. 

Attendees are encouraged to bring redacted student data for review during the training.
