Description

21st century students need 21st century skills.  This workshop will focus on building computational thinking through unplugged activities.  Learn how to provide students with experiences that use thinking patterns and processes to solve problems:  notably, decomposition, pattern matching, abstraction, and algorithms.

What is Computational Thinking Unplugged?

Participants will learn lessons and activities you can use to teach the fundamentals of computer science, whether you have computers in your classroom or not!  These activities allow students to learn that each failure is a clue for what to try next. They stop thinking of failing as a frustration and begin to look at it as an element of exploration.

  • Creativity, collaboration, communication, persistence, problem posing and problem solving are all encouraged in CT.
  • Walk away ready to teach computational thinking (CT) concepts in your classroom immediately.
  • Learn how to enhance many of your current classroom lessons with CT, rather than needing to create all new lessons.
