Description
CARE: Compassionate Assessment and Response in Education was developed to meet the requirements for certificate renewal for school counselors, school psychologists, school nurses, and school social workers in Washington State.
In this four-hour training, participants will learn how to identify students at risk of suicide, practice intervention strategies with student scenarios, and learn how to provide ongoing support for students at risk.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand factors that contribute to distress and suicide risk in students with multiple identities and challenges
- Gain comfort in conducting a supportive conversation with a student you’re concerned about and in asking about suicide risk
- Understand how to keep a student at risk safe, immediately and longer term
Learn how to cope when a suicide intervention causes distress for you.
