Description

Join us for a two-day, hands-on professional learning experience designed to support educators in making grade-level content accessible for all students—especially multilingual learners. Grounded in the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) Model, these sessions will guide participants through the eight components of effective sheltered instruction while connecting to Washington State standards and equity-focused instructional practices.

Participants will engage in interactive learning, collaborative planning, and real classroom application as they explore how to design lessons that intentionally integrate content and language objectives, build background knowledge, promote meaningful student interaction, and support academic language development.

This session is ideal for K–12 teachers, instructional coaches, and leaders seeking to strengthen Tier 1 instruction, increase student engagement, and ensure all learners have access to rigorous, standards-aligned learning.

Participants will receive:

  • The Making Content Comprehensible for Multilingual Learners book, 6th Edittion
  • Practical strategies aligned to all 8 SIOP components and 30 features
  • Ready-to-use instructional routines and scaffolds for multilingual learners
  • Tools for reflection, observation, and continuous improvement
  • Lunch provided both days
