This workshop is for principals, assistant principals, central office staff in districts using the Danielson Instructional Framework. Those who evaluate teachers are required to complete Stage 1 and Stage 2 Framework training. 

Using the Danielson Framework, participants will increase their ability to support effective teaching using the state criteria, comparing their evaluation scoring with others for inter-rater reliability.

In Stage 1 participants will be introduced to the Framework and walk away with an understanding of the “Big Ideas” of the Danielson Framework. In Stage 2 participants will work together to consider the application of the Framework as a formative assessment tool through the use of self-assessment, goal setting, gathering evidence and using multiple measures of performance.

All readings and handouts will be sent to you as email attachments a few days before the session.  

You will need to have a print copy of The Framework for Teaching Evaluation Instrument by Charlotte Danielson.  The official 2011 version is available for free download from the OSPI website or for purchase as a hard copy online.  You may use the 2013 version, but readings and documents in the training sessions use the 2011 version.

There will be about 2 hours of independent work to do for each training day -  a combination of reading and watching videos - some done in advance to prepare for each day’s session, and some assigned during the break between same day sessions.   Each day will follow this schedule:  Synchronous online work from 8:30-10:30ish am; asynchronous work and lunch from 10:30ish am to 1:30 pm; Synchronous online work from 1:30-3:30 pm for a total of 6 hours per day.
