Description

This two-day introductory training is for anyone who is in a position to have learning-centered conversations with teachers or administrators (e.g., administrators who supervise teachers or administrators, instructional coaches). This workshop focuses on using the Learning Focused Supervision Continuum developed by Laura Lipton and Bruce Wellman to have conversations that result in growth.

This learning experience presents time efficient templates and tools for both novice and experienced supervisors seeking to productively influence teachers’ problem-solving, decision-making, and instructional skills. It is filled with strategies and structures for developing and refining supervisory skills for sharing standards-based, data-rich feedback in ways that increase teachers’ receptivity for receiving and internalizing that feedback.

As a result of attending, participants will be able to better structure learning conversations around the four stances of the continuum (calibrating, consulting, collaborating and coaching).

Participants will receive a copy of the book Learning-Focused Supervision, Developing Professional Expertise in Standards-Driven Systems by Laura Lipton, Ed.D and Bruce Wellman, M.ED. and lunch will be provided both days.
