Description

Join us for a four-part Zoom professional development book study centered on Children’s Literature in the Reading Program: Engaging Young Readers in the 21st Century by Deborah A. Wooten, Lauren Aimonette Liang, and Bernice E. Cullinan. This collaborative series invites educators, literacy leaders, and librarians to explore how high-quality children’s literature can drive engagement, build vocabulary, and support inquiry across the curriculum.

Through reflective discussion, participants will examine current research, explore inclusive literature practices, and reimagine how story-rich instruction can foster lifelong readers. Each session will focus on two chapters of the text, connecting research to real-world classroom practice.

Whether you’re building your classroom library, designing literature-based lessons, or striving for greater cultural responsiveness in your reading program, this book study will offer tools and inspiration for creating classrooms where all students see themselves in the pages they read.
