Description
A one-day training engages participants in learning about the 5 Dimensions and 13 Sub-Dimensions of Teaching and Learning. Developed from multiyear research efforts at the University of Washington, the 5 Dimensions of Teaching and Learning instructional framework is a comprehensive reflection of the core elements of effective teaching. Participants will learn how the 5D+ framework provides a common language of instruction and helps schools and districts to successfully implement high-quality instructional practices.Videotaped clips of classroom instruction and collegial conversations are used to guide participants as they practice using each dimension as a lens for analyzing classroom practice. The CEL instructional framework provides a common language of instruction that defines teaching and learning along five dimensions: purpose, student engagement, curriculum and pedagogy, assessment for student learning, and classroom environment and culture.
Event Notes
For fall 2020, each day of training includes approximately 3-hours of independent reading and reflection and a 3-hour live/virtual session, 8:30 – 11:30. The live sessions will include discussion and various learning engagement strategies about the 5 dimensions and 13 sub-dimensions of Teaching and Learning. The intended audience is principals, assistant principals, and central office staff who evaluate teachers under the TPEP evaluation system and are new to the framework as an evaluator.
