Planning for Student Social, Emotional and Behavioral, and Mental Health Recognition, Screening, and Response
Presenters
- Shelley Seslar
Description
Washington K-12 school districts are required by RCW 28A.320.127 to adopt a
plan to screen, recognize, and respond to student indicators of social, emotional,
behavioral, and mental health (SEBMH) such as, but not limited to, sexual abuse,
substance use, violence, or youth suicide. OSPI has created a Model District
Template (2022) districts can use to guide their planning. This overview session
will demonstrate how the OSPI Model District Template assists in organizing district
teamwork and plans, and will introduce additional resources for strengthening and
easing the planning process.
Shelley Seslar, Behavioral Health Navigator at NCESD, will facilitate this overview
session, and is available to assist your district or building in SEBMH planning work
at any time. Please contact her for assistance. This training and assistance is free
to districts thanks to Washington State funding of ESD Regional School Safety
Centers.
