Description

Rationale and Description: Tier I in the MTSS-SEB framework includes inclusive, trauma-informed

and effective prevention and response in the classroom. In this all-day session, educators will

explore the difference between discipline and punishment, emphasizing proactive, relationship-

based approaches. Key topics included establishing rules, routines, and procedures, maintaining

attention and engagement, and effectively redirecting and responding to challenging behaviors with

function-based interventions, logical consequences, and behavior differentiation strategies. The

importance of community-building during the first month of school through classroom meetings

and relationship-building will also be highlighted. Educators will work collaboratively to begin

drafting their beginning-of-year classroom management plans, incorporating strategies for positive

behavior support and classroom climate. Teams will receive implementation guides for key

components discussed to guide their work throughout the school year.
