Description
Rationale and Description: Middle school classrooms are increasingly complex learning
environments where educators must meet diverse academic, social, emotional, and behavioral
needs. National data shows a marked rise in student mental health challenges, including anxiety,
depression, and disengagement (CDC, 2022). These challenges—if not addressed within a strong
Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)can significantly impact learning outcomes, school
connectedness, and long-term well-being. This professional learning day is designed to equip
middle school educators with the foundational knowledge and practical strategies needed to
implement Tier I, II, and III systems of support within their classrooms. Grounded in evidence-
based practices from Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), trauma-informed care,
and adolescent brain development research, this session ensures staff are prepared to create
inclusive, proactive, and responsive classroom environments.
