Description
Have you always wished you could work with grade level colleagues on big math ideas central to your grade level? Are you looking to support unfinished learning? Are you hoping to do this in an interesting and equitable way for all of your students? If so, this Professional Learning Community is for you! How do we know if students truly understand the mathematics that we teach? Join our K-2 PLC as we dig into the big ideas that support mathematics in grades K-2.
This robust and highly engaging professional learning is based on the work by mathematician John SanGiovanni in the book, Mine the Gap For Mathematical Understanding. We will explore grade specific an standards based, big mathematical ideas through high-quality tasks. By anticipating student thinking, identifying misconceptions in student work you will see how to plan for and implement next instructional steps. Participants will have the resources to use this professional learning as a guide for grade level work back in their district.
.
Participants will want to have a copy of the book prior to our first session and it can be purchased here.https://us.corwin.com/en-us/nam/mine-the-gap-for-mathematical-understanding-grades-k-2/book250665)
This professional learning is highly interactive and having multiple screens or tabs is advisable. Participation from a smart phone is not adequate.
