WHAT IS LETRS?

LETRSĀ® (Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling) helps teachers apply The Science of Reading research to classroom practice allowing them to teach language and literacy skills to every student, no matter the curriculum or program your district uses.


LETRS Professional Learning helps educators to:  

  1. Understand how language, reading, and writing are related to one another. 
  2. Make instructional decisions and program choices with reference to scientific research evidence, strategic use of assessments, and observations of students.
  3. Deliver comprehensive, integrated language and literacy instruction defined by standards and by research for a given grade, age, or ability level.

What does LETRS Professional Development Include?  

  • LETRS Book with four units of research, application and resources that support understanding  (PAST Assessment, Scope and Sequence for Word Study, Reading and Spelling)

  • Four online modules created by LETRS

  • Bridge-to-Practice opportunities to apply learning in the classroom

  • Four in-person full day pd sessions (lunch provided)
