Description
Youth Mental Health First Aid offers first aid skills to help caring, trusted adults in supporting youth showing signs and/or symptoms of mental health disorders. Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is the help offered to a young person experiencing a mental health challenge mental disorder or a mental health crisis. The first aid is given until appropriate help is received or until the crisis resolves. This training is needed for those who work with youth as it will increase the knowledge awareness and skills identifying students at risk and those in need of help.
Objectives of the Training:
- Recognize early warning signs that a youth is developing a mental health or substance use challenge
- Recognize warning signs that a youth may be experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis
- Apply the YMHFA Action Plan to help a youth with a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis
