Description

With updated mathematics standards, WA Math 2025, now is the time to consider the landscape of mathematics teaching and learning in ways that have students engaged and thinking.  The focus in math classrooms is now on process and then product

This interactive session dives into the foundational practices of Building Thinking Classrooms (BTC).  Participants will actively experience rich thinking tasks while exploring key practices such as task selection, random grouping, vertical workspaces, and flow. Through immersive activities and guided reflection, educators will see how BTC transforms classrooms from spaces of mimicking to spaces of thinking.  The day culminates in a full curricular BTC lesson--from launch to closing.  This gives participants a clear, practical vision of what a thinking classroom looks, sounds, and feels like in everyday practice and the skills and strategies to launch BTC in their classrooms!
