Description

This summer training series equips educators and school teams with practical, evidence-based strategies to support student behavior through an MTSS-SEB lens. Sessions emphasize data-informed decision-making, function-based supports, and equitable practices that strengthen SEL skills and promote consistent, supportive adult responses across school settings.

    • Top Ten Classroom Management Strategies for Effective Learning Environments
      Wed, August 12 2026
      9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

This professional learning session supports educators in implementing high-impact classroom management strategies that promote positive, predictable, and consistent learning environments. Participants will explore ten core practices aligned with MTSS and PBIS frameworks, including teaching expectations, active supervision, opportunities to respond, specific positive feedback, and consistent responses to behavior.

The session emphasizes practical application and alignment with Tier I systems to ensure consistency across classrooms. Participants will leave with strategies and an action plan to strengthen classroom practices and increase student engagement.

    • Active Supervision for Paraprofessionals
      Wed, August 12 2026
      9:00 AM - 12:00 PM

This professional learning session supports paraprofessionals in implementing Active Supervision as an effective strategy for preventing challenging behavior and promoting positive behavior within an MTSS-SEB framework. Participants will learn how Active Supervision can be used in both unstructured settings (e.g., cafeterias, hallways) and classroom environments, including small groups, to increase structure, predictability, and positive interactions. The session emphasizes practical application of core Active Supervision components, including movement, scanning, and positive interactions, along with strategies for teaching and reinforcing expected behaviors. Participants will leave with tools and resources to implement Active Supervision across a variety of school settings.

    • Understanding the Function of Behavior: A Foundation for Effective Supports
      Wed, August 12 2026
      1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

This professional learning session builds educator understanding of the function of behavior as a critical component of MTSS for social, emotional, and behavioral support. Participants will learn how behavior serves a purpose and how to identify common functions (e.g., attention, escape, access, sensory) to better match supports and interventions. The session focuses on moving from reactive responses to function-based thinking, using simple tools to analyze behavior, and selecting appropriate strategies that teach replacement behaviors. Participants will leave with practical approaches to apply function-based support within classroom and Tier II systems.

    • Low-Effort, High-Impact Strategies to Support Student Behavior Change
      Wed, August 12 2026
      1:00 PM - 4:00 PM

This professional learning session supports educators in implementing practical, low-effort strategies to effectively address challenging behavior within a MTSS-SEB framework. Participants will explore the distinction between discipline, punishment, and consequences, along with the core principles that support meaningful behavior change, including prevention, teaching, and responding. The session emphasizes concrete, easy-to-implement strategies such as logical consequences, visual supports, opportunities to respond, and function-aligned interventions. Participants will also have time to plan for implementation, ensuring strategies can be applied effectively within their own classroom and school settings.
