Description

Through teamwork and engaging activities, participants will strengthen their ability to reflect, design/implement holistic support systems to meet the unique needs of Migrant students in their districts. This training will focus on Priority for Service students (Migrant Out-of-School Youth or Migrant students with an interrupted school year or are not passing classes, or are not passing state exams) and "Needs Students" (Migrant students with an interrupted school year or are not on track to graduate).

We are excited to be joined by Nikkita Oliver as our guest speaker. Nikkita is a Seattle-based creative, community organizer, abolitionist, educator, and attorney. Working at the intersections of arts, law, education, and community organizing she strives to create experiences which draw us closer to our humanity and invites us to imagine what we hope to see in the future. She will be speaking about the crucial importance of Maslow's hierarchy and how we address students as whole people in the K-12 system.
