Description

The purpose of a threat assessment is to prevent targeted violence. The threat assessment process is centered upon an analysis of the facts and evidence of behavior in a given situation. The appraisal of risk in a threat assessment focuses on action, communication, and circumstances that may suggest an individual intends to mount an attack and is engaged in planning or preparing for that event.

This 4-hour Level 1 Student Threat Assessment training will cover the essential concepts of the Salem-Keizer Threat Assessment System (STAS). We will be reviewing:

  • Youth Risk Factors
  • Supportive Research and Best Practice Recommendations
  • Application of TA concepts and Level 1 site-based protocols
  • Direct Instruction on conducting Level 1 Assessment at the school level
  • Process for Referral for Community-Based Level 2 TA Support Team
  • Case Review and Lab Exercises Demonstrating Level 1 TA Process
