Description

The 4-hour virtual introductory workshop will cover ways to engage more effectively with students utilizing the spirit of MI. In this experiential workshop, discussion and real plays will assist participants in integrating MI skills into current practice. Participants will complete the training with effective skills for working with students in a more engaging, collaborative manner on supporting behavior change. Topics covered include why people don’t change, common beliefs and solutions to change, ambivalence, stages of change, roadblocks to listening, Persuasion vs. Taste of MI activity, spirit of MI in action, psychological reactance, and what is MI. Participants will have skills they can immediately apply to the work environment. Up to 30 staff per training.
