This is an equity-centered professional learning community where we will explore research on responsiveness and build partnerships with colleagues and community organizations. We will learn how to best partner with multi-disciplinary teams to support our students with visual impairments in the classroom and community settings. We will work to better understand to build bridges between home and school to include parents and the home culture of students in our teaching. We will build partnerships with community organizations like the Lion’s Club, WSSB, NWABA, and the Department of Services for the Blind to make sure our students with visual impairments have a community to support them and make sure they are included. We will work to understand how to better support students with understanding their visual impairment and accept themselves. We will become more skillful at educating our colleagues and educational leaders to understand the complex needs of students with visual impairments so they are better understood, included, served, and loved in our schools.

Target Audience: All grade levels, Teachers of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI), Orientations & Mobility Specialists (O&M), Occupational Therapists (OT), Physical Therapists (PT), Speech Language Pathologists (SLP), Principals, Classroom teachers with student with a visual impairment, paraprofessionals, braillists, interveners, deafblind teachers, anyone else working with students with visual impairments.
