Description

Safety-Care is a training program for staff working with children and adolescents who may exhibit challenging or dangerous behavior.  The focus of Safety-Care is on prevention, safety, and humane, supportive, evidence-based interventions.  We’ll learn to prevent many behavioral crises and how to respond if a crisis does happen.  Safety-Care is designed to be part of an interdisciplinary approach.  Professionals from a variety of disciplines, working with direct care staff, participate and collaborate in the assessment, treatment, and evaluation of an individual’s overall status and intervention plan.  Interdisciplinary treatment strategies create a compressive, whole-person approach to providing a humane, respectful, and supportive environment. Safety-Care procedures are based on research from applied behavior analysis (ABA) and utilize concepts of behavior support, including reinforcement and functional assessment. Safety Care focuses on the identification and reinforcement of alternative behaviors. Safety-Care is taught using behavioral instruction methods.
