Description
What if assessment wasn't something done to students â but a tool for revealing the brilliance every student brings to science learning?
This 4-session virtual book study invites Kâ12 educators to rethink science assessment from the ground up. Grounded in Aneesha Badrinarayan's Surfacing Brilliance Through Meaningful Science Assessment, participants will examine what it means to design assessments that are coherent with NGSS-aligned learning, responsive to students' lived experiences and cultural assets, and capable of capturing the full range of student thinking.
Participants are responsible for obtaining a copy of Surfacing Brilliance Through Meaningful Science Assessment before the first session. The book is available from:
Bookshop.org (ebook)
Amazon (paperback and kindle)
Corwin Press (paperback and ebook)
Please allow adequate shipping time to receive your book before April 21.
Commitment: Participants should plan to attend all 4 sessions and complete assigned reading before each session. Sessions build on one another. There will not be make-up Zoom sessions because they are discussion based, but participants are eligible for all clock hours spent in attendance and spent in asynchronous work.
