Description

Presented by NWESD's Literacy Coach, join us for a full-day workshop introducing participants to evidence-based literacy practices and strategies for aligning instruction to research.

In this interactive and practical session, participants will:

  1. Explore the foundational elements of the Science of Reading
  2. Learn what current research reveals about how students learn to read
  3. Connect research to everyday classroom practices across grade levels
  4. Identify best practices and strategies for foundational literacy development

Participants will leave with a greater understanding of the key components of effective, evidence-based literacy instruction to support improvement planning reports and documents such as: School Improvement Plans (SIPs), Local Education Agency Consolidated Accountability Plan (L-CAP) and Integrated Student Supports (ISS) for Special Education Learning Assistance Program (LAP) and Title 3. Though this workshop is not focused on these documents, participants will learn to identify evidence-based practices to support these.
