Presented by NWESD's Literacy Coach, join us for a full-day workshop introducing participants to evidence-based literacy practices and strategies for aligning instruction to research.
In this interactive and practical session, participants will:
- Explore the foundational elements of the Science of Reading
- Learn what current research reveals about how students learn to read
- Connect research to everyday classroom practices across grade levels
- Identify best practices and strategies for foundational literacy development
Participants will leave with a greater understanding of the key components of effective, evidence-based literacy instruction to support improvement planning reports and documents such as: School Improvement Plans (SIPs), Local Education Agency Consolidated Accountability Plan (L-CAP) and Integrated Student Supports (ISS) for Special Education Learning Assistance Program (LAP) and Title 3. Though this workshop is not focused on these documents, participants will learn to identify evidence-based practices to support these.
