This fully asynchronous course offers an exclusive opportunity to view the 2020 documentary No Time to Waste, a collaborative project from the Rosie the Riveter Trust, the National Park Service, and Digital Story Company. The film is available for viewing on Canvas after course registration. The documentary captures Betty Reid Soskin's life and experiences, including working under segregation during WWII and as a National Park Service Ranger at age 85. The film serves as a historical source for understanding the history of the civil rights movement and racial injustice in the U.S., the impacts of World War II, and the power and possibility of oral histories to provide new insights into the past and present. Participants will view the documentary and complete pre and post-viewing reflection assignments.

Deadline:  Participants must complete this session in Canvas by October 15, 2026. Participants will be deactivated in the Canvas course after completing the course and after their attendance is recorded in pdEnroller. Course attendance is taken on an on-going basis after participants finish, often within 3-5 days, though during rush periods and holiday breaks please be aware it may take up to 2 weeks.  Please Note: Due to holiday breaks, no grading or recording of attendance will take place during the time periods of November 24 – December 1, 2025 and December 20, 2025 - January 1, 2026.
