This fully asynchronous course provides an overview of equity in K-12 education in accordance with the Washington State Professional Educator Standards Board's Cultural Competency, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (CCDEI) standardsLinks to an external site. for educators. Course content includes understanding equity vs. equality; educational equity and why it matters; watching the 2017 Teach Us All documentary and self-reflecting; and understanding strategies for building equitable schools. Completion of the course offers an opportunity to purchase 5 clock hours in Equity or Educational Leadership. NWESD 189 is a state approved clock hour provider and clock hours can be used for certificate renewal in Washington State.

Deadline:  Participants must complete this session in Canvas by July 15, 2026. Course attendance is taken on an on-going basis after participants finish, often within 3-5 days, though during rush periods and holiday breaks please be aware it may take up to 2 weeks.
