The YES! program, which empowers students to initiate change in their school by analyzing the school environment and sharing their perspectives. It includes a hotspot bullying mapping project for middle schools. Additionally, we will discuss sex trafficking awareness and prevention instruction designed to fulfill the requirements of RCW 28A.320.168, which requires schools to:
”Beginning no later than the 2025-26 school year, school districts must offer instruction in sex trafficking awareness and prevention. The instruction may be offered beginning in grade seven, but each student must be provided the instruction at least once before completing grade 12.”
This training aims to eliminate barriers by empowering students to identify and report areas within the school that feel unsafe, and to recognize signs that someone may be experiencing trafficking or sextortion. Equipped with this information, school staff will be better positioned to monitor high-risk areas and proactively safeguard students from potential harm.
