This fully asynchronous course focuses on understanding the purpose and role of the Tribal Canoe Journey in Coast Salish cultures. Participants will watch an hour-long episode of the PBS series "Growing Native" that focuses on Coast Salish cultures Links to an external site.with special focus on the canoe journey. Participants will read about the most recent Coast Salish canoe journey and reflect on educational resources relating to Coast Salish cultures. Completion of the course offers an opportunity to purchase 3 clock hours in Equity. NWESD 189 is a state approved clock hour provider and clock hours can be used for certificate renewal in Washington State.

Deadline: Participants must complete this session in Canvas by July 15, 2026. Course attendance is taken on an on-going basis after participants finish, often within 3-5 days, though during rush periods and holiday breaks please be aware it may take up to 2 weeks.
