Description

This professional community of practice offers a valuable opportunity for educators to delve deeper into specific subjects relating to college and career readiness as well as the High School and Beyond Plan. Throughout this series, we will host experts and feature best practices.

Through collaboration with educators, teachers, counselors, advisors, and community organizations invested in supporting students, this event will offer insight to what’s happening in our region, state, and beyond.  Together, we will explore equitable practices, strategies, and effective approaches to support students and families (and each other!) with High School & Beyond Planning.

The morning session covers legislative updates that impact the High School and Beyond Plan, funding, programming, and graduation requirements. WSIPC will feature the Follow Your Student (FOYOST) tool for schools in Washington state. We will explore curriculum developments in career pathways and higher-education collaborations forging ahead in the region to align processes and learning outcomes.

The afternoon focuses on efforts to streamline CTE dual credit processes, including new tools and resources developed this year to help students, families, educators, counselors, and advisors navigate dual credit opportunities.

Our in-person Spring Convening on Thursday, May 28, 2026 will be held at the Mount Vernon Library Commons in order to offer a central meeting spot in the 5-county NWESD 189 region, accessible right off I-5 in Mount Vernon. Lunch is provided.
