Description
This is an ongoing, online course that offers foundations in building resilience in educators and their students. It includes exploration of adult emotional intelligence with resources for supporting areas of weakness. Additionally, it covers creating a safe learning environment, the learning brain and how trauma and poverty impact it, engagement, and cultural relevance. These are not just theoretical considerations but foundational tools on which to build. The course is divided into 6 sessions with 4 lessons in each session. The fifth lesson in each session is reflection and evaluation. There is a downloadable workbook broken into 2 sections: Sessions 1 - 3 and sessions 4 - 6. There are evaluative questions at the end of each lesson to ensure participants are clear on what is being taught and its application. A passing score of 80% is required to move forward with 3 attempts allowed. The final evaluation (session 7) is an accumulation of the questions already asked. There is a Certificate of Successful Completion awarded to those who complete the course and the evaluations successfully. Throughout the course, they have access to me through direct email and a private FB group, Educator Superheroes. Here they can ask questions and deepen learning. Within the FB group they can also build community across learners.
