This course is designed to assist school counselors and other crisis team members to be better prepared when responding to a crisis. This training will provide counselors/crisis team members with: (1) an opportunity to learn key crisis counseling skills and strategies for hosting a counseling support care station (2) The core components of psychological first aid (an evidence informed approach to helping students and family in the immediate aftermath of a disaster/crisis) with an opportunity to practice (3) A sample information packet for parents and teachers; and (4) information on how to conduct an operational review of the response, document lessons learned, and prepare for follow up.
