Description

In this two-hour interactive training, paraeducators will enhance their support of students' educational outcomes. The Child & Adolescent Development course will provide paraeducators with:

  1. Knowledge of child and adolescent developmental milestones/stages and potential early warning indicators (e.g. attendance, behavior, and academic progress)
  2. Knowledge of strategies to create an equitable learning environment which fosters the unique strengths and abilities of students being served
  3. Knowledge of behavioral support systems/strategies that create an inclusive and safe learning environment
  4. Demonstrate the ability to assist students to access family, school, and community resources of support
  5. Knowledge of how developmental stages impact students physically, emotionally, academically, and socially
  6. Risk factors that may impact student learning and development physically, emotionally, academically, and socially
  7. Strategies to assist in the development of student’s sense of social and community  responsibility
