Hi All, Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning at ESD 112 for the rescheduled OER Summit 2017. Please plan to arrive between 8:30 and 8:50 am for coffee, check in, networking, and computer setup. We'll start at 9:00 am sharp. Be sure to bring a digital device (at least one member from each team/school should have a device reflective of the type used by students in their district). Event Cancelled
Hello everyone, As I’m sure you have noticed, the snowfall was definitely heavier than expected, making travel to the event today unsafe. In light of this we will be cancelling the OER Summit. I’m sorry to miss meeting with you today but I’ll work with our partners at ESD 112 to find a date to reschedule and will be in touch soon. In order to make sure that everyone has received word of the cancellation, can one team member from each district send me an email confirmation that you have received word of the notice. If your team has already let me know, you can disregard that last request. Please let me know if you have any questions. Is your district interested in Open Educational Resources? This event may be for you...
Open Educational Resources (OER) are free to use, edit, and share. They have the potential to align curriculum more closely with the Common Core State Standards and engage teachers more fully in curricula, allowing them to adapt content to support quality instruction and student engagement.
Join OSPI’s OER, Learning and Teaching, and Educational Technology departments to discuss how to include OER as an important part in your district’s instructional material strategy. Your team will have an opportunity to learn more about OER, consider your district needs, and explore how OER resources can support instruction.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- Identify the benefits OER would have to your district and determine what challenges your district might face in implementing OER
- Learn about using, adapting, and developing OER
- Take away review instruments for determining quality and Common Core alignment
- Hear from districts on the front lines of OER implementation
